Part 1

Part 5

The online streaming video clips of Jiddu Krishnamurti talking with the kids of the school.

Meditation | Concentration |

Krishnaji starts with the question

What would you like to talk about?

A student replies 'pride'

K. 'pride!', 'Are you proud?'

Student : Sometimes

J. Krishnamurti : Sometimes, what are you proud about?

Student : Achivement

Krishnaji : Achivement! What have you achieved? Al that ? man have achieved? all do you want to achieve ? Is that you want to talk about? Pride, achievement, success, money, possessions, power is that all you want? probably we all want! Don't fool yourself. Don't deceive yourself.

another Student :We all want these because,w e can't live without these things?

K : In these times one says we can't live without these things, how do you know?

'If we don't have these things, they don't listen to us, they does not give us respect'. the student replies.

K replies , 'So what do you want to do?'

The student is quick to respond, 'Sir, anything we can achieve in a prospect for living a happy life but not too much of respect.'

Krishnamurti laughs at the answer, 'You are quiet right', other students joins the laughter.

K : 'Not to much respect, but fairly comfortable life?! Student responds in affirmation. Krishnaji continues ' and a happy life, that is? Is that what you want? Krishnaji puts foreword a question.

'Yes' responds the child and has a little confused look on his face.

K : Then go after it.

Student : Sir, it is not easy unless, you try and achieve' the student face shows he finds it difficult to find words at this point.

Krishnaji's face turns towards other children, 'Any other questions?' he asks while the student in dialogue looks around a little puzzled.

What is a difference between meditation and concentration? a question comes from far off.

K : Do you really wan to talk about that? Or is it a game!? or you just found a question about, i amy be interested, is that it?

'No' comes a reply

'You really want to know, what is difference between meditation and concentration.

'So alright sir!' Krishnaji gets ready for the conversation, not caring for the physical discomfort his body might be giving due to old age. 'Will, you pay attention to what I am talking? What I am going to say?' again he puts a question.

Few students responds in affirmation with a 'Yes Sir'

'Don't say yes sir' responds with a smile 'and then forget.'

'Do you really want to talk about it? If you do, you are bringing very serious subject. What we think is concentration/

A student responds, Think about it deeply'

'What do you mean by that?' Krishnaji puts a question to that answer.

The kid responds and Krishnamurti finds it difficult to listen to the child's voice coming from distance. 'Come out here' he invites the child student to sit close and next to him, with love and a smile.

He continues, ' something you want to keep your mind on.' Right', as the child sits next to him. Krishnamurti gives a loving and appreciative glance at the child.

'Have you tried it?' the question comes out again. 'You want to look at those flowers' Krishnamurti points at flowers as the child's glance reach where pointed, 'or your book, or your teachers are saying, have you ever looked at it meditatively? this flowers, what teaching is telling you, listen, and concentrate on a book, have you?' he continues.

'Sometimes', responds the child who looks attentive.

'When does it happen?' K asks and the child seems looking for words to answer, Krishnamurti answers for him with a smile, 'When you like it.' A smile appears on the face of the child and affirms.

'Now when you like something, you put your attention, your thought, your energy, in observing it'. 'Right?' he asks. He continues, 'and that is generally called concentration, that is you concentrate on the book you are reading.' 'Right?', Krishnamurti asks as he puts his hands on the child. He continues, ' or, sometimes you are looking very carefully at those flowers, right?, or you what your friend or your teacher is telling you. Right?,

'Have you ever watched very carefully, concentrate on something for a long time?' He asks.

'Not for a second or two, but for a long time.' he clarifies. 'Have you done it?' Krishnamurti puts the question as the child is listening. The child responds with a no.

'Please, try it now' Krishnamurti responds with a smile 'Listen very carefully to what somebody is saying to you or look at those flowers for a long time. Right?' As the child looks at the flowers for few seconds, Krishnaji continue to point out other points , 'Not allow any other thought to come in, that what means concentration, focusing, giving all your attention to something that you are listening to or reading a book or watching something , can you do it? can you do it now? Krishnamurti asks.

The child answers in a yes, with a smile.

'When that takes place, what happens?' comes the question

'We understand' comes the reply from the child.

'You not only understand, but what is happening?' 'you think it out yourself, I am not going to tell you.'

'Where do you come from?' very gently Krishnamurti asks the child

'Banglore' comes the answer from the student.

'Now he wants to know, what is the difference between concentration and meditation?' Krishnamurti continues. and looks towards the student 'right, you don't the meaning of the word meditation, right? you don't know the word meditation, do you?' The kids nods that he does not.

'Nor do yo know the meaning of the word, concentration.'

'Now I know' student replies

'Now you know, because i pointed it out to you.' 'So concentration means, focusing your thought, energy, on something.'

A question comes from a distant, and Krishnamurti calls the small girl asking the same to come near and asks the same.

He listens to question from her and turns towards the boy.

'Listen to it carefully, Is it not difficult to concentrate on something without thoughts coming in?'

Security - Psychologically - Talks - Saanen - Switzerland

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Security | Idea | Experience | Fear | Illusions | Reality | Actual | Relationship |

This is the video of Third public talk, by J. Krishnamurti, at Saanen, Switzerland in 1979. Audio comes in after 60 seconds.

Some quotes and questions put by Krishnaji during the talks in these video clips

* Why human beings throughout the world seek psychological security?

* One needs physical security. One must have food, clothes and shelter.

* And apparently throughout the millenia man has not been able to organize a society so that everybody could have enough food, clothes and shelter.

*
Why have not human beings been able to arrange, they have capacity to organize, enough energy to see that all human beings have enough food, clothes and shelter.? That is one problem.

* Human beings are so frightened. Why does the mind cling to a particular memory, to a particular experience, hold on to a belief which has lost all meaning, why?

* Now if you see that, that when you have an ideal there must be a contradiction in your daily life because that ideal is something non real - right? Non factual. But the factual is what is happening and hence a conflict, an adjustment, an imitation, a division. So there is constantly approximating one's actions to something which is not factual. I wonder if you see? That is illusory, this is actual.

* So after talking over together, together, does one put aside ideals? If you do, then you say, is it possible then to face actually what is happening? Not in contrast to the ideal and measuring what is happening according to the ideal, but have the capacity to face what is actually going on? In that observation of what is actually taking place there is no conflict, you are watching. I wonder if you see this?

* So now we are inquiring into the question of security. And why do human beings, right throughout the world, hold on to experience? Please ask yourself. Not only sexual physical experiences but also so-called spiritual experiences, which are much more dangerous.

* You walk along by yourself or with others, you suddenly have some kind of ecstasy, some kind of delight and that experience you store it, hold on to it. The thing is over - right? There is the memory of it and one holds on to that memory, which is called experience.

* The actual word 'experience' means to go through. To go through and finish with it, not carry on in your memory that which has happened.

* Now specially in so-called psychological experiences, or religious experiences which are very, very subtle in their happenings, the human mind takes delight in something which is not ordinary. Ordinary being that which is happening everyday. And that which has happened suddenly, or which has happened after unconsciously working at it and then happening.

* Now is it, as we said, it gives them a great sense of superiority? I have had something which you fellows haven't had. That is the whole gamut of the gurus, you know, all this. "I know, you don't know." And why do human beings live in this way? Why do you or 'X' live this way? Please think it out. Let's think it over together because your experience is personal, enclosing, self-centered and the other is the same

* So we are asking: why do we find security in illusions? Please find out.

* Say for instance, envy is the common lot of all mankind - right? Envy being comparison, measurement from what I am to what you are. This measurement. Now in thinking over together why is it not possible to end that completely?

* So we have been so trained, educated to accept non-facts as being far more important than the actual. And in the non-fact we think we shall have found security. Right?

* Now the question is: the mind is seeking security - right - it wants security, it has not found security in any illusion - right? - but yet it says "I must have security." I wonder if you are following all this? So it says, "I must find security in my relationship." Obviously. "I have let go of beliefs, ideals, the experiences, the remembrances, all the nationalistic nonsense, they are all gone". But one's mind is not free from the idea of security. And from that may be the beginning of all fear. So it says, "Is there security in my relationship with another?" Go on, you are the people who are caught in this. Is there security in the image I have created about my wife? Or my husband, my girl? Obviously not. Because that image is the projection of past experience - right? And the past experience has brought about this image, and according to that image I act, which is the future. Right? Am I making this awfully difficult? So the mind is now saying: there is no security in any form of image - right? Not in relationship but in any form of having an image which thought has created from the past experience. Right?

* So in attachment we want to find security. And when you don't find it in a particular attachment you try to find it in another attachment. One is married to one person for twenty years and you are bored and you suddenly run off with somebody else which is what is happening in society, and there you are hoping to find some kind of security, excitement, sex and all the rest of it. See what we are doing sirs?

J. Krishnamurti In dialogue with Huston Smith

Religion | Mind | Psychology | Wisdom | Spirituality | How| Negation| Authority |

Some quotes and questions put by Krishnaji in the dialouge

* I wonder what you mean by the word lucid. I wonder whether you mean clarity. Is this clarity a matter of intellectual perception, or is it a perception with your whole being, not just a fragment of your being. But with totality of one's own being.

* Is it possible in this world with so many contradictions, and such misery and starving not only outwardly but also inwardly, to find within himself, a clarity that is constant, that is true in the sense, not contradictory, is it possibly for a human being to find it?

* I don't see why not? I don't see why it shouldn't be found by anybody, who is really quiet serious. Most of us are not serious at all, we want to be entertained, we want to be told what to do, we want someone else to tell us how to live. What this clarity is, what is truth, what is God, what is righteous behavior and all.

* What is needed is he freedom of authority, not the how. How implies a method, a system, a way traveled by others and someone to tell you do this and you will find it. Ones you have a system and a method you become mechanical, you do just what you are told, and that's not clarity.

* To have clarity the first essential thing is the freedom. Freedom from authority.

* The word 'how' implies that a mind that asks 'please tell me what to do?' Qusetion : ' I ask again is that a mistaken question? A wrong question?' Answer : ' I should think that's a wrong question ' How?', but rather you say what are the things, the obstructions that prevent clarity, then we can go into it :).

* What are the things that prevent clarity, through negation, through negation come to clarity not through positive method of following a system.

J. Krishnamurti - Conversation with Prof. Allan W Andeson. California

Part 5

Part 6

| Consciousness and it's relation to death | Living | Reincarnation | Immortality | I | Me | Self |We and they | Choice less Awareness |

Some quotes and questions from Krishnaji from the talk

* Mind is so frightened, it is frightened with the very word death, and nobody talks about it.

* One cannot possibly understand the immensity, and it is immense, this thing called death, unless there is real freedom from fear.

* Without really freeing the mind from fear, there no possibility of understanding the extraordinary beauty strength and vitality of death.

* The ancient Egyptians, they prepared for death. Living was a means t dieing. That is one way of puting t. The other is reincarnation, that is the Indian. The idea of resurrection by Christians.

* You live 100 years. For what? For this kind of life, fighting, quarreling, bitterness, anger, jealousy. A meaningless existence. It is a meaningless existence, that we are living now.

* What is it that dies? And what is it that one is frightened of ? Loosing the known, loosing my wife, loosing my house, loosing all the things I have acquired, loosing this content of consciousness.

* Can contents of consciousness can totally be emptied?

* Dieing is living if one's content is totally emptied.

* Can this whole content of consciousness, be observed?

* The content of consciousness, that is me, my ego, I and you, we and they. So it is very important to understand the content of consciousness, that is the dieing to me :). That is the ME.

* I want to immortalize me. By writing a book, that is popular, or doing good deeds, building this and that, I want to immortalize the me.

* I want to achieve the immortal, the nameless, the infinite which is born out of thought and thought is mortal, limited.

* Than what is immortal? The beauty in the church, not i made the church. The beauty in the poem, the beauty in the sculpture, BEAUTY not the object of beauty. The beauty itself that is immortal. And I cannot grasp that, mind cannot grasp that, because beauty is not in the field of consciousness.

* Immortality is not withing the field of time, and time is thought, so anything that thought creates is within the field of time.

* Reincarnate next life everybody says, nobody says reincarnate NOW.

* One man came whose wife had died. He said, ' I must see my wife.' 'Can you help me.' I said, 'Which wife do you want to see? One that cooked, one that brought up the children, one that gave you sex, one that quarreled with you, one that dominated you, threatened you.' He said I don't want to meet any of these, i want to meet the good of her.' Do you get it, the image of the good he had built out of her. Not the real things, but the idea of the good which he created out of her.

Bernard Levin Interviews Jiddu Krishnamurti

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Bernard Levin (famous, controversial british journalist and broadcaster of the 70s & 80s), Interviews J Krishnamurti: at Brockwood, UK, on 20th June 1981.

Jiddu Krishnamurti talks on no conflict, sacred, Philosophy, mind, fear, thought mind, Religion Psychology Faith Freedom Belief Life Death Wisdom with Bernard Levin

Some quote and excerpts from the video clips

* a realization that conflict destroys not only the mind but the whole sensitivity of awareness

* How do you conquer effort? Answer : I think it comes really when you have direct perception of something that conflict does destroys human dignity, human sense of depth and all the rest of it.

* The ultimate goal if you want to put it that way is to find something that is completely sacred, totally uncontaminated by thought. It's not a concept, it's a reality, why would you reduce it as a concept?

* Thought is limited, because it is born out of knowledge, born out of experience, so knowledge is never complete about anything.

* We are so consumed by our own desires and pleasures, it does not matter as long as we are fulfilled.

* If you see a danger, you move away from it.

* Is pleasure love? Is Love desire, pleasure ? if we accept it, it is our human condition, we have to break through it.

* Love should not be identified with the desire, with pleasure, with sex, fulfillment, a sense of having fun in life. All this is called love. I think that is not love.

* Question : What about the ambition to do good? Ans : Do good, you don't have to be ambitious to do good, then it becomes selfish, a self centered activity, you do good, Finish!

* We live in a world that thought has created. We live in a world where we have given tremendous important to thought, and thought has created all this problems.

* Human consciousness is the consciousness of mankind, it is not my consciousness and your consciousness.

* One has to be free of nuisances that thought has created, to see something really sacred, that comes about through right meditation.

* First we have to put the house in order. They think that by meditating they will put the house in order. On the contrary you must put the house in order, you understand putting house in order?

Be a light to yourself

Jiddu Krishnamurti | Light | Bruce Lee Warrior's Journey |

From the one wo uploaded this file on you tube

One nice phrase from Krishnamurti. It was ripped from the documentary of "Bruce Lee - A Warrior's Journey" (a very good one I'd say).
Unfortunately it's in german, but here is the transcript:

Lee was especially fascinated from the mind set of Krishnamurti,
who says that you can only discover truth by yourself - and not learn it from others.

"You have to be a light to yourself ... and not follow the light of your professor, the psychiatrist, psychologist or the light of Jesus or the light of the Buddha.
You have to be a light to yourself in a world thats utterly becoming dark."

Some elevating comments on this video clip from you tube

*
What he is saying is instead of looking for so-called "guru's", "rabbi's" "immam's" etc and ancient books to follow, have the courage to face yourself alone without all these escapes and distractions. Observe your every thought and action, your feelings, tempers, angers, lonliness, doubts - face these head on and you will be surprised by the results. Once fully observed and understood they begin to uncondition your mind and set you free. But YOU have to do it - nobody else!

* krishnamurti was a enlightened man let us at least give this some consideration

* I exist. My Lord exist. My search for His glimmer, my search for His grandeur is never ending. I am moving unto Him, moving along in a never ending path. The search for the Great by the little is called mysticism. The fundamental point of spirituality depends on this mysticism, and when this mysticism, this outward existence, coincides with the inner spirit of mysticism - the goal is reached. Unit becomes Cosmic - and for that - and for that attainment of this - we have come to the world.

* The first to teach and say "Be a light unto yourself" was the Buddha. It doesn't diminish my love for Krishnamurti that he isn't being original here. It is a great service to teach this basic tenet. Basically it means to me to watch and discover the illusions of my own mind and the truths of my own heart with as bright of light and as often as possible. much love and peace!

* Krishnamurti,he was an Indian philosopher, not a guru. He's most famous saying was "Truth is a pathless land".He invited you to find out for yourself what is truth and not to rely on somebody else authority or knoweledge."Be a light to yourself"

Krishnamurti - The Real Revolution

Part 1

Part 2

krishnamurti | education | revolution | psychology | consciousness | life spirituality | philosophy | religion

This 30-minute documentary is the first from an original series of eight made for television in 1966. They were the earliest sound-films of Krishnamurti speaking to audiences.
